HE CALLS ME BEAUTIFUL

In the past 2 years there have been moments of INTENSE difficulty. At times it felt as though I was being pushed beyond my limits... the day that the Lord gave me Job 38 & 39 was the day I stopped mumbling, stopped complaining; for after all, who am I to darken His counsel by words without knowledge?

I girded up my loins that day - like a (wo)man - and I considered once more His Sovereignty in my life; this time from a different perspective.

I found complete peace in Him that day and in the midst of the chaos surrounding me, I was able to surrender completely to His perfect will. "If it pleases you Lord, it pleases me." This became my motto as I went my way back into the chaos that seemed to be my life. Not much has changed in my circumstances, since that day. But I changed. He brought something out of me that could only possible surface through the furnace of refinement. He didn't make the burden lighter, the road easier or bring about the outside change that I had desperately been waiting for but something amazing happened...

He changed me:

He showed me what I'm made of.
He showed me what He poured into me before the foundations of the earth. I was there, you know. Predestined for greatness - for His glory though, not my own.
He showed me His power, made perfect in my weakness and what could be achieved by just trusting Him.
He showed me how to hold my peace.
He showed me how to forgive.
He showed me how to love.
He showed me that is grace really is sufficient and how it would be all that I would ever need and so much more!
He showed me that it is okay to be weak so that His strength could be what carried me.

He took my mourning and gave me the oil of JOY!
He took the spirit of heaviness that was weighing me down and gave me His garment of PRAISE!
HE TURNED MY MOURNING INTO DANCING AND MY SORROW INTO JOY!

And finally, HE called me BEAUTIFUL and showed me how that I belonged to HIM and therefore would never be in need.

HE CALLS ME BEAUTIFUL!

FAITH

According to the dictionary Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something ... a strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.        I believe that without faith it is impossible to achieve ANYTHING. If I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't be able to achieve anything. My mind couldn't possibly comprehend my capabilities to achieve anything without belief in self. But! Belief in self is so limiting ... if I put my belief in myself I will only be able to achieve so much but if I put my belief in God what I am able to achieve is limitless!

The word of God says that FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS UNSEEN. Faith gives substance to our hopes.

Supernatural events takes place in our lives when we exercise Faith in God!

Faith is an action. I wouldn't be where I am today without 2 things: Faith & the Grace of God. It is the grace of God that enabled me to overcome the biggest obstacle in my life and having faith, complete trust, believing that God and only God had the power to heal, deliver & restore... He proved me right!

The fruit of having Faith in God is completeness

- completely overcoming anything 1 John 5:4 "for everyone born of God overcomes the world"

- complete healing James 5: 15 "the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up."

- complete peace Psalm 34:19 "the righteous person may have many troubles but the Lord will deliver him from them all."

ON BEING A MOM

Someone once told me that the legacy I leave my daughters not only consists of the situations that might cause them pain, but also in the capacity I build in them to be strong and resilient and that the hardest part of being a parent is seeing the impact of your choices in life; reverberate in the life of your child.

To me there is no greater gift than that of being a woman and there is no greater responsibility than that of raising a one. As mothers we have to be aware that these little sponges are watching us so closely and eventually they will imitate what we do or at least some of what we do. The point being that we need to be conscious of the manner in which we are raising our daughter because it will have a major impact on the type of woman they become.

Besides the list of ingredients it takes to at least to some of it right, the best thing we can do for our daughters are to be moms who PRAY... pray for them in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening! Pray for every area of their lives, for every little thing that may seem so menial... PRAY!

The enemy knows the gifts that God gives His Princesses so he seeks to destroy before we even have the chance to access even a fraction of our potential, the gifts that God has placed within each of us.

I want to encourage all moms to stop trying to be the perfect mother. There is no such thing. One of the best things you can do for your daughter is to teach them that it is okay to mess up, the important theing being that we learn from our mistakes and that we are there for each other when we make mistakes. This is the best display of what unconditional love is.

The second best thing you can do for her is to teach her to see herself through the eyes of God; for her to realise that she is perfectly and wonderfully made. When she has that, she will never allow anyone into her life that sees her or treats her any less than the Princess that she is!

We need to teach our girls to be gracious, not to be judgmental and not to indulge in gossip and slander. Teach them that they do not need to conform to the way the world does things and to do things just to be accepted into the "in cirlce". Teach them to question and to think for themselves and not to be affraid to stand up for their beliefs even if they have to stand alone! Teach your girls to have respect for other people's beliefs and to do all that they do in love <3 <3 <3

MY STORY

We all have a story to tell and I chose to share my story because I believe that my story is the story of millions of women in one form or another. South Africa has one of the highest levels of sexual violence against women in the world and the perception is that abuse is conducive to environments where there is oppression and poverty but my belief is that abuse of any kind exists WHERE LOVE IS NOT. I believe that the women of South Africa, Africa and all around the world will be empowered when they learn that abuse of any kind is No. 1 not acceptable; No. 2 not part of God’s divine plan for our lives and No. 3 not the end!

There are different forms of abuse; physical, emotional, economical & sexual; and my message is this: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN THE BONDAGE OF ABUSE OF ANY KIND! If we just had the courage to be real about this issue, to talk about it openly and with empthay and compassion - not with the attitude that it is not my problem or maybe if we don't talk about it, it will just go away.... maybe just maybe we could be that beacon of hope for the multitudes of our sister who are suffering in silence.

IT STARTS WITH ME! "For My Girls" is a tribute to my daughters and all the daughters of the world; a legacy that I would like to leave behind; my footprint in the sand. I want my daughters and all the daughters of the world to know that if I had the courage to go against the grain by lifting my voice in this issue and in so doing, setting myself free from the torment of living with my secret for so many years, then so can they. Abuse of any kind is not okay.

I have received numerous emails, smses and phone calls from women who have read "For My Girls", thanking me for sharing my story because they can relate and some women have even confessed that they too have been victims of abuse and reading my story has given them a sense of release, it has given them hope and the courage to overcome. One of the worst things about being abused is the shame that comes with it; you feel like you can't talk to anyone about it. What an amazing thing it is to cross paths with someone who has been there and knows exactly what you are going through.
I chose to share my story with the world in the hope that women who read my book would be inspired and feel empowered in the midst of the thing that may be keeping them in bondage. I believe that if every girl ever born lived her purpose then the world we live in today would be a very different place. I also believe that the reason the world is suffering is because the women of this world are not actively fulfilling the purpose for which they were created. If you are alive, you have a purpose. How great or small the impact that you make is up to you. Open your eyes to the greatness that lies within you.

Mothers; we need to change our mindsets, our perceptions and the choices that we make. We need to be intentional about the way in which we mold, shape and nurture  people who God has entrusted to us. We need to commit ourselves to TRUTH (taking real understanding to heart), we need to be strong and courageous in facing the mountains, we need to realize that we are more than overcomers and then we must pass that down to our daughters; and that is how we change the world!

My goal for this book is to be in a position where I can freely hand it over to anyone who needs to be encouraged.

The For My Girls Foundation is a non-profit organisation that was birthed from my vision to see every girl and every woman around me and beyond; fulfill the purpose for which she was created and to do it fearlessly and courageously!
